After the experiment I decided to redesign my characters. At first I designed the book’s main character chicken. I design the character base in animation Ai character, it become more detail and realistic. Moreover Ai character is flat but this book character will have texture and there has a stereoscopic feeling.I sketched a chicken that was taking various actions. From there I pick 1 pose and coloured it. I used the water-colour paper it’s texture is more rough than the others so it gives more special effect. Sketched in there and coloured by water colour and colour pencils. I didn’t draw arms yet. I want to show arms movement in the pop-up book so I will draw later and stick on it. After I draw this I tried the different style material. Want to give the similar feeling with my animation I tried to draw with maca pen and black pen. Than I ask to other friends which one is better and suitable, than all of them choose the chicken style. So the pop up book style will be chicken colour style.
In visual study class, we continue to do our finial major project. in book I want to do more analogue style. So for experiment I select 1 scene, and plant with acrylic. Than I scan & print it.
like this drawing I design the pop-up book and stick all element in proper position. First I didn’t measure the length of the paper lines so I folded lots of time. And I just print my animation characters and stick it, but the result is not satisfied its not match for the background and trees that I colour with acrylic. So I will paint and design the characters again with other materials.
Originally my first plan was to treat grobalize international issues because my topic was grobal. There is no time to create a new character, originally I planed to make the video and book characters the same, I made the animated characters character of the book. Chicken, panda, tiger, lion, monkeyAs I wrote this C& CS essay, I knew that children would be better able to assimilate and empathize with similar characters. So, I chose the cute chicken, which was the weakest and brightest color among the five animals. I thought about the merits of each animal I chose the main character.The tigers and the lion are surely strong. The monkeys and the pandas thought that it was common to climb the trees well, and the chickens thought the cry was loud. The animals except the chickens have two things in common, so I thought it would be easier to show them in a book.

But chickens cry as ” I’m not as strong as tigers and lions, I’m cannot climb trees well as like as pandas and monkeys, moreover I can not fly like other birds, how can I save you?” At that time, the pandas encouraged chicken, that he have a loud voice that is good point for the chicken. The chickens called the village animals with a loud voice and save the panda. The chicken now knows that he has a special point too, and the story ends when he gets confident.
At first, I wrote to give a lesson, but it seems to be a story that can give various lessons after writing a story. You can get a lesson from chickens to cherish oneself, learn lessons about friendship with friends through pandas, and finally learn about the diversity of the world by dressing different countries clothes on animals.
Today I start the second step of my gif project. Using the After Effect make the video. Before I made video I search some tutorial about how to give some special effect. My big worry is how to change the character smoothly so I find tutorial the Transitions skill. However there was nothing I wanted. Instead, I learned how to make a explore effect with a point, and learned how to put a mask on it. Also I learn how to convert speed of objects! its really useful skill!!
I once finished the chicken monkey part and connected it to the panda. Beginning It took a long time to create a video while browsing the tutorials, but I thought it was going to continue to do well at the end. I didn’t use very difficult and complicated skills, but my skills seems to be better than old moving image class and the result is not bad. It aims at enhancing children’s understanding and imagination through picture books and enabling them to experience a world of fantasy that can not be seen through writing. The children’s books has a high value not only for writing but also for art education as the artistic value of the illustration increases.

Using the paintings that I made for the texture experiment, I add in the background and create new background. Once the tiger was used as it was made the last time, and the panda wanted to do something related to bamboo, so I overlapped the leaves pattern on the green background. The background of the monkeys applied a lot of patterns in the wave pattern that appear in Japanese traditional paintings. Among the paintings painted with crayons and painted with lino, lino was more fitting and I picked it. I wanted to make the background of the chicken cute and bright, so I applied dots painting draw with the crayons. And the big problem is the lion. 😦 Once I set the background to the blue series, I tried to put all the textures that would fit into it, but they were not suitable. The rest are all textured in the background, so if you have nothing on the background of the lion, it would be too strange to find something that suits you, but it is not easy.
In weekend I tried different water colour texture experiment. I did 4 kind of different skills.
- lifting with tissue & salt- Using the different colour I made beautiful wet marbling and than using tissue & salt I take off some paint. Tissue & salt absorbing water. Than it become amazing water colour painting.
- plastic wrap- paint with darker colour, wrinkle up plastic wrap layer on wet paint and leave it alone until dry. Took up the plastic wrap I can find it nice unusual shapes and texture.
- Using the knife I make the paper rough. Create some grooves before painting over it the paint settles into the grooves after I paint it. Also I cutting grooves into the wet paint.
- Spattering is the fun kind of mindless way to create a galaxy of tiny dot. Using the brush put one paint and flick it onto the paper, do it on a wet surface and it looks nice too.
